DFFL AOM 2022

January 16, 2022 to February 9, 2022

Attending Owners: The Chad, Mike, Clay, Jeff, Wayne, Mini, Garts, Fred

Non-Attending Owners: Rhonda (holiday in Mexico)

Commissioner stated that there were no re-tabled issues from the 2021 AOM and opened the floor to new business:

1 – Clay had concerns about the number of players on IR on some teams’ rosters. Wanted to start a discussion about how many should be on an IR list, if we should cut down the rosters to 22 now and possibly even have a one-time 4th supplemental draft in order to balance out the rosters. This discussion turned into a complete dumpster fire and got all confusing with regards to off season rosters, altering the rounds per supplemental draft, creating an entire new regular supplemental draft just to add 1 player overall, and also to remove Covid “free parking” spots from everyone’s rosters. It ended with the Commissioner having an uncharacteristic hissy fit/rant about everything. From the Commissioner’s rant, the following items were voted on:

1 – Commissioner advised you could vote on the following options for the IR & Covid “free parking” spots on your roster for the upcoming season and beyond:

a)     Kill all spots completely:

b)     1 spot only no matter what: Garts, Mike, Mini, Wayne, Fred

c)     2 spots only no matter what: Jeff, Clay, Chad

d)     Leave everything as it is (unlimited use)

Option B was voted in and passed for immediate implementation, from now on all Covid positive players (except for 1 if you have no IR players) will take up a spot on your team’s roster

2 – cutdown to 22 players immediately (before the end of the AOM):

Yes: Garts, Mike, Mini, Clay, Wayne, Fred

No: Jeff, Chad

Proposal passes unanimously for immediate implementation. All rosters were immediately cut down to 22 players by all owners

3 – Clay proposed that we have a 1 time only 4th supplemental draft to balance out rosters:

Yes: Jeff, Chad

No: Wayne, Fred, Garts, Mike, Mini, Clay (changed vote)

Proposal is voted down and does not pass

4 – Jeff proposed that we add a permanent 4th supplemental draft, but reduce ALL supplemental drafts to 2 rounds:

Yes: Jeff, Chad

No: Garts, Mike, Mini, Clay, Wayne, Fred

Proposal is voted down and does not pass

5 – rosters to remain unlimited throughout the off season or capped at 22 throughout the off season:

Leave unlimited: Jeff, Wayne, Fred, Clay, Chad

Cap at 22: Garts, Mike, Mini

Rosters will continue to stay as unlimited rosters throughout the off season

Commissioner Rant/Options over…

6 – Chad double checked to ensure that we are giving 2 points for 4th down turnovers. Commissioner advised that we have been doing that for years before the website ever offered that as an option for scoring.

7 – Chad started the 4th supplemental draft discussion again. He and Clay led the discussion on it. Eventually a proposal was made to add a permanent 4th supplemental 3 round draft at the end of Week 12 and before kickoff of Week 13:

Yes: Chad, Mike, Wayne, Garts, Jeff, Mini

No: Fred, Clay (*note* I MAY have gotten Clay’s vote wrong here, he said he was letting his previous vote stand, but I know that it got really weird in the first discussion and the only reason why Clay voted against a 4th supp draft was because there had already been supp picks traded (when guys were toying with making some supp drafts 2 rounds and others at 3). Either way he voted on this issue had no bearing on if this passed or not.)

Proposal passes for immediate implementation

8 – Chad proposes that in addition to the 2 bonus points that kickers get for 50+ field goals, that we also add a 1-point bonus to all successful field goals between 40 – 49 yards:

Yes: Chad, Jeff, Garts

No: Fred, Wayne, Mike, Clay, Mini

Proposal is voted down and does not pass

9 – Chad went on to restart a discussion about the 4th supplemental draft that was discussed earlier and furthermore, which supplemental drafts to make how many rounds. The Commissioner (while trying not to be a dick like he was earlier), tried to explain why making the drafts different rounds instead of leaving it simple at all supplemental drafts being 3 rounds each would be confusing and would add to illegal trades. After further discussion and some efforts at voting, a final agreement could not be made. The Commissioner ruled that for the 2022 season all supplemental drafts will be 3 rounds each and that we could revisit this discussion at the next AOM. No one argued with that.

*Proposal/discussion re-tabled to 2023 AOM

No one else had anything new to bring up so the floor was closed for new business. The Commissioner had no rule changes to go through so he went on to do his annual Commissioner’s Report:

DFFL 2022 AOM - Commissioner's Report

1 - Finances:

I am pleased to announce that ALL prize money in ALL leagues were settled/paid out the day after the season ended. This was due to the fact that I did not procrastinate as I have done in the past and had everything ready to go. My goal is to keep that time frame going forward in all my leagues.

On a side note, an owner in one of my leagues asked why we don't just use LeagueSafe or something like that. The problem with that is that out of the money that I collect, I do way more than just pay the winners. I also have to go through and pay each owner who gets a weekly high score as well as any owners who hold or break any records, and in the leagues that still have supp drafts, the owners pay for those optional picks and that supp draft money is used to pay for the website. So to throw all the money into LeagueSafe is not as easy for me as you would think. And as I have proven this season, I CAN pay people out the day after the season just like LeagueSafe does. This way just works way better for everyone.

Despite the season being 1 week longer now (which means more money is paid out for the weekly high scores), the finances for the 2022 season will not change. League fees will remain at $70 and an additional $5 for anyone who wants to play Pick'em. And there will be no charge for trades effective immediately and going forward and all optional supplemental draft picks will still cost $1/pick (this continues to pay for the website). The bottom line for 2021 was that the DFFL ended up at $0 (as per previous AOM decisions), with that said, everything will stay the same for now and I will reassess next season.

As always, a financial statement of the past year is available to anyone who requests it.

2 - Draft Order:

Here is the 2022 Draft Order (based on regular season record, who won and was runner up in the Championship)

1 - Rhonda, 5 - 9

2 - Wayne, 5 - 8 - 1

3 - Garts, 6 - 8

4 - Fred, 6 - 7 - 1, lost H2H vs. Snipers

5 - Darcman, 6 - 7 - 1, won H2H vs. Training Day

6 - The Chad, 7 - 7, lost H2H vs. Damage Inc.

7 - Clay, 7 - 7, won H2H vs. Master of Puppets

8 - Mini, 7 - 6 - 1

9 - Jeff, 2021 DFFL Runner Up

10 - Mike, 2021 DFFL Back-to-Back Champion

I will update the draft order on the draft boards on the Darcman site on the next update.

3 - Divisions:

In this league divisions are broken down yearly. The Champion (Mike...again) and the runner up (this year it was Jeff) get to be "Captains" and they do a schoolyard pick of the other owners as to who gets placed into which division. In no particular order, here is how the Divisions ended up looking:

Asinine Division:

Jeff, Darcman, Mini, Rhonda, Fred

Neanderthal Division:

Mike, Clay, Garts, Wayne, Chad

Commissioner will set up the divisions once the 2022 version of the website is up

4 - Miscellaneous:

some of this stuff can be found here: http://www.darcman.com/dffl1.html

a) There were no league records broken this season, all league records continue to be listed on the above site.

b) on the above site, I posted the entire history of the DFFL Champions as well as a few little tidbits of info that I will continue to add to from time to time.

c) I would like to thank everyone for their patience and dedication to this league especially through these odd covid times. Looks like covid is going to continue to be a thing for quite awhile so your patience is appreciated.

d) I did have some proposals to make, but I cannot find my list, so I guess they will have to wait until next season.

Thanks again to everyone involved in this league, it may be run decently by me, but it is ultimately the owners who make the league great! There is a reason why this is truly the flagship league of the DFFL Franchise. Thank you everyone!
