2024 DFFL3 AOM

March 18, 2024

Attending Owners: Brian, Rob, Sabu, Ryan, Mark, Garts, Chad, Ryan, David, Rhonda

Non-Attending Owners: Fred

Present but not voting: Mike (new owner who had taken over Mini’s team)

Commissioner stated that there were no re-tabled issues from the 2023 AOM and opened the floor for new business and also advised that he would also include all the things from the message board that were put on from the past season.

1 – As per the 2023 AOM, a decision was made to replace the annual trophy with a wrestling belt. Good ones are very expensive and the Commissioner advised that we could stick with a wrestling belt if we wanted to, but since the Darcman site currently tracks all past champions and suggested maybe we continue to use the site, pass on the wrestling belt and retire the annual trophy. There was no belt fund established in this league as there were in the DFFL & DFFL2.:

Stick with the belt:

Just use the site: Brian, Rob, Garts, Chad, Ryan, Mark, David, Sabu, Rhonda

Non-Voters: Fred

Exclusively use the Darcman site, no more belt, no more trophy (for now) passes

2 – The Commissioner advised that we switched to 32 player rosters during covid, but never switched them back and put that up for a vote. Brian proposed an amendment that would make this move not take effect until the 2025 season:

30 players in ’24: Rob, Garts, Mark, Rhonda, David

30 players in ’25: Brian

Stay at 32: Chad, Ryan, Sabu

Rosters to be down to 30 players during the regular season effective this 2024 season

3 – The Commissioner proposes a new scoring feature that has been implemented in a lot of leagues lately (PPFD, points per first down) and suggests that we implement it to try it for a year and see if we like it. Commissioner suggested 1 point/first down for this year:

Yes: Brian, Rob, Garts, Mark, Sabu

No: Chad, Ryan, David, Rhonda

Non-Voters: Fred

Proposal does not pass nor did it get voted down, re-tabled to next AOM

The Commissioner closed the floor for new business and presented his Commissioner’s Report:

1 – Finances:

The Commissioner advised that all prize money was paid out the morning after the completion of the Championship game.

Back in the 2022 AOM it was agreed that I could tweak the finances/payouts slightly as there was a small loss on the bottom line in the previous year. Because I was planning on buying a belt and was trying to nickel and dime some money for that somewhere, I never really did tweak the finances. Now that we will no longer be getting a belt, I will be looking at the finances after the website gets paid and before the start of the season and will advise at some point what the payouts this season will be.

I think I just attached the financial statement to the AOM recap last year, while I didn’t get the financial statement done in time for the AOM’s If anyone wants to see the financial statement after it is done, please feel free to let me know and I will provide it (or, I may just send it out to you all once it's done, regardless, but if I forget, please feel free to remind me lol).

Otherwise, everything is fine financially and there are no pressing financial issues at this time. However, as of March 22/24, I have been informed that the cost of the website is going up this season and beyond. That may have an impact on all future league fees. I plan on purchasing the leagues early this season so that I can get a discount for this year, but please be prepared for a fee increase next season (we will discuss at the AOM of course). I will be waiting until after I pay for the sites and will see how much that costs before I finalize any of the finances or financial statements.

2 – New Owner announcement!!!

Mini has decided to leave most of his fantasy football leagues and has left the DFFL3. I did convey thanks to him regarding his past tenure with the DFFL, DFFL2 & DFFL3 and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

This year his replacement will be (familiar to most all of you I think): Three Time DFFL Champion, (and the ONLY owner to successfully win back-to-back DFFL Championships) Mike Kirby (yes, the infamous brother of the 2022 DFFL3 Champion David Kirby)!

3 - Draft Order:

Here is the 2024 DFFL3 Draft Order as per a previous message on the message board based on both regular season and playoff results.

1 - Degeneration - X, 1618 PF

2 - The Hart Foundation, 1748 PF

3 - Breaking Bad, 1839 PF (this is now Mike)

4 - Sputnik 5, 1859 PF

5 - Tailgaters, 1933 PF

6 - Fist Of Destruction, 1990 PF

7 - Lorena Bobbitt, 2025 PF (eliminated in 1st rd of playoffs)

8 - Grape Crush, 2387 PF (eliminated in 1st rd of playoffs)

11 - 4th Down Syndrome, 2023 Runner Up

12 - Spider Pigs, 2023 DFFL3 Champion

4 - New 2024 Divisions:

In this league, divisions are realigned annually. The Division Champions (this year they were Garts, Rob & Ryan) from the previous year get to pick their opponents for their divisions via a school yard pick and the divisions ended up like this:

Division 1: Garts, Sabu, Rhonda, Mini (now Mike)

Division 2: Rob, Darcman, Chad, David

Division 3: Ryan, Fred, Brian, Mark

The divisions have already been set up and the schedule has been reset also. However, I will triple check on that as well.

5 – Miscellaneous:

The trading freeze was lifted at the conclusion of the NFL Super Bowl.

Just a reminder that there are no roster limits during the off season. Switching to a max of 30 for this regular season.

It looks like the WW is fully functional. If anyone has any issues, please feel free to let me know asap. You have 120 WW bucks to play with during the offseason, the WW runs on Friday mornings I believe.

Thanks again for all your efforts!

DFFL Franchise Commissioner,

Darcman
