2025 DFFL AOM

Feb 5, 2025

Attending Owners: The Chad, Mike, Clay, Jeff, Wayne, Garts, Fred, Rhonda, Susan & Carl

Non-Attending Owners: n/a

Commissioner stated that there were no re-tabled issues from the 2024 AOM, but did point out that he made a sudden rule change mid-season and that needed to be discussed.

1 – After a supplemental draft, teams will now have until kickoff of the early Sunday afternoon games to make any trades and to be at their roster limits. This rule was implemented to give the teams more than just 1 day to make trades and moves to improve their rosters.

Keep the rule in place going forward: Garts, Chad, Fred, Susan/Carl, Mike, Wayne, Clay, Jeff

Kill the rule:

Non-Voters: Rhonda (unbeknownst to me, she was in Mexico when the AOM started so she didn’t vote on the first few items)

Rule will stay in place for the foreseeable future

2 – The Commissioner advised that we need to revisit Chad’s proposal that was implemented last year of a .5/ppr scoring rule.

Keep: Garts, Chad, Fred, Susan/Carl, Mike, Wayne, Clay, Jeff

Remove:

Non-Voters: Rhonda (see above)

Rule will stay implemented for the foreseeable future

The Commissioner opened the floor for new business:

3 – The Chad suggested that maybe we go back to our roots and consider shaving some of the scoring rules and bonuses down so that our scores were not so high. An extremely long discussion ensued and the final votes were:

Yes remove:

No, keep all the same: Wayne, Clay, Fred, Susan/Carl, Garts

Non- Voters: Jeff, Mike, Rhonda, Chad (technically he didn’t really vote as he could not select any specific bonus to remove and he just wanted a discussion about it)

Proposal does not pass

4 – Fred proposes that we remove the bonus point for successful FGs between 41-49 yards (the bonus point is currently 1 point for that range).

Yes, remove: Fred, Mike, Susan/Carl

No, keep: Wayne, Clay, Chad, Garts, Rhonda, Jeff

Non-Voters: none

Proposal does not pass

5 – Fred brought up Chad’s proposal from last year of removing the kickers and adding another Flex position. After a lengthy discussion, the votes were as follows:

Yes: Fred, Mike

No: Wayne, Clay, Susan/Carl, Chad, Garts

Non-Voters: Rhonda, Jeff

Proposal does not pass

*Commissioner advised that after discussing removing kickers every year for the past 3 or 4 AOMs that we will NOT be discussing it for the next 2 AOMs*

6 – Mike proposes that we adopt the “All Play” type of standings based on average weekly score. I do have to see if the site will do this, but if it does then votes ended up like this:

Yes: Mike, Garts, Clay, Susan/Carl, Chad

No: Fred, Wayne

Non-Voters: Rhonda, Jeff

Proposal passes on a 1-year trial basis as long as the site can do it

7 – Clay proposes that we go all out and switch from a HPPR to a FPPR scoring system as well as add a .5/rush. A discussiong ensued, and the final votes ended up as follows:

Yes: Clay, Fred, Susan/Carl, Chad, Garts

No: Wayne

Non-Voters: Rhonda, Jeff, Mike

Proposal passes on a 1-year trial basis

8 – Draft Day & Venue were discussed. Several options were brought forth by the Commissioner. During the discussion the option of an overnight bash at Mike’s was brought up. The Commissioner advised that he has tried to do a get together at Mike’s but few people seemed to be very interested. He also pointed out that with all the people taking holidays during draft time the past couple of years, it has become increasingly more difficult to just set a draft date, never mind trying to make it like the old days of a big party. Furthermore, a couple of owners advised that an overnight draft is not logistically possible to do. Chad & Jeff still voted to push for Mike’s. Ultimately with the majority of owners voting that they didn’t care, there was no final decision made.

9 – Through the course of conversation, Chad brought up the subject of adding another flex into our lineup again. The Commissioner allowed the vote, but said that when you vote you had to vote for a position (as some owners wanted a QB to be allowed to be a flex player, completely altering our QB heavy scoring system, while others just wanted it to be another RB/WR/TE spot). After discussion, this is how the voting ended up:

Yes, RB/WR/TE only: Jeff, Mike, Chad, Clay

Yes, 2nd QB only: Fred

No, leave it as is: Garts, Rhonda, Wayne, Susan/Carl

Non-Voters: none

Votes ended up deadlocked and the Commissioner refused from making the final decision. Proposal does not pass and will not be re-tabled to the next AOM

The Commissioner closed the floor for new business and presented his Commissioner’s Report:

1 – Finances:

The Commissioner advised that all prize money was paid out the morning after the completion of the Championship game.

He also advised that with the 1-year reduction in league fees, the extra money that had been put aside for the wrestling belt (that we never got) has now been used up and fees will return to $70 for next season and forward.

Commissioner got $4.15 for running the league last year and the pot is now back to $0.00

2 – New Announcements:

The Commissioner announced that effective immediately the prize payouts will remain the same but all supplemental fees will be removed. This means that there will no longer be any extra charges for supp fees but that does greatly increase the chances of the league fees needing to be increased if the dollar continues to tank and/or the website fees increase at all.

Note: On March 22/24, I was informed that the cost of the website is going up this season and beyond. That may have an impact on all future league fees. I plan on purchasing the leagues early this season so that I can get a discount for this year, but please be prepared for a fee increase for the 2026 season (we will discuss at the AOM of course). I will be waiting until after the 2025 season concludes and see where the league is sitting financially before suggesting that we increase the fees.
